Hey there! This article was written in 2006.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

Cross-posting to Myspace

Posted 2 August 2006 in experiment, myspace, and script

Let me be clear: I hate Myspace. Every time one of my friends begins using it to blog, I have to grind my teeth together. Myspace has terrible feed support! But that's a different post.

Despite how unpleasant Myspace's technology (and community) is, it represents yet another opportunity to draw people to my site who otherwise wouldn't visit. So, taking a cue from my friend Dave, I've been considering cross-posting summaries of my posts on Myspace. I think I'll probably write a quick-and-dirty script to accomplish the task for me, but only as a programming exercise. If nothing else, I can make life easier for Dave (he'll have to buy me dinner at Arby's, though).

Personally, I'm rooting for libmyspace to really take off. Myspace is perhaps the most successful landfill I've seen in a long time, but if Tom Parker (not The Tom) can put a pretty facade on it, more power to him.
