Hey there! This article was written in 2005.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

More stuff what ain't easy

In addition to the Greasemonkey-to-extension conversion, I've also decided that there's some things about the feeds I'm subscribed to that I don't like. For instance, Penny Arcade includes the contents of their blog alongside the comics. Further, they merely link to the comic, so I have to go through an extra step just to read the comic. Megatokyo and User Friendly do the same thing.

What I want is just the comic, and nothing else. Luckily, my feed read (Liferea) supports filtering, so I can theoretically just create a file to filter the incoming feed data and modify it. But remember this simple rule:

"In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is." - Chuck Reid

I'm encountering problems. Most notably, Liferea doesn't appear to be sending any information to the filter. I guess I'll be stuck clicking on links to read comics for a little longer, but at least I don't have to check the websites for updates.

In related news, I'm now getting more hits for my posts feed than I am for my homepage, but only by a narrow margin. Beat the rush! Go get an account at Bloglines and start subscribing to sites now!
