Hey there! This article was written in 2006.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

Startling timing on my part

Posted 21 November 2006 in gravatar, interoperability, pavatar, and visual-identity

In what I believe to be my finest timing, Gravatar.com has been offline for a few days. This has completely knocked out all visual identities on my site, as well as thousands of other websites. This service outage came mere days after I blogged about visual identity schemes and the centralization choke point of Gravatar.com. The end result is that I'm going to work to add Pavatar support to my blog quickly.

I'm excited about the Pavatar specification. I hope to continue working with Jeena to improve the ideas, although I won't have a lot of time to do so until December. In the mean time, please start publicizing your pavatar on your website! If you need any help doing so, leave a comment and I'll see what I can do to help you out!
