Hey there! This article was written in 2006.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

After reading the specs

Posted 8 October 2006 in foaf

Does anybody remember me talking about how cool I thought FOAF was? I read the spec more closely and realized that the specification seems fundamentally broken in ways that I won't discuss here. The basic impression I got was that the specification had become too broad and generic to be manageable, while failing to address any current problems with finality.

The result is that I won't be pursuing FOAF. I do hope the project gets its affairs in order, but right now - at least from the documentation I was reading - it's far from stable, let alone useful.
