Hey there! This article was written in 2006.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

Simulating Conversation in MySQL

Posted 22 September 2006 in conversation and shoutbox

Remember how I've been talking about writing software that will allow people to participate in a running conversation on my website? I've been working on understanding what the backend will need to be capable of, and I'm beginning to get a grip on that.

I've implemented a rudimentary database and played with it. Things are looking pretty good, although I'm still taking notes on some things that I forgot initially. Hopefully after I'm finished with my reading and homework this weekend, I can sit down and write some code.

Oh yes, and until I've come up with a better name, the software will just be called "Conversation". No, I'm not going to use a 'k' in place of the 'c'. Let's not be ridiculous.
