lessons learned in production

Hey there! This article was written in 2007.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

The front page is modified

Posted 13 February 2007 in design and website

I've updated the front page of my site. It's still bland, which is fine with me, because I enjoy simpler designs. The big difference is that the information is simplified and consolidated, in addition to adding several icons, courtesy of the wonderful Tango Desktop Project. I also tried to make the design a little more friendly to Internet Explorer 6 and 7, but it still looks awful.

Internet Explorer 6 is the Microsoft child that suffers from severe birth defects, and has only been kept alive through artificial means. Right now it's being babysat by its younger sibling, Internet Explorer 7, who's anxious to go hang out with the cool kids in hopes of impressing everyone. Seriously, is there any other browser that doesn't render my front page the way I want? Only Microsoft's browsers fail!

Anyway, I've worked to make the design cleaner. Hopefully it will be appreciated by people depending on an invalid browser. I think next time I'll redo the entire thing in Flash...
