Dead Rising (XBox 360)

Dead Rising
XBox 360

"Dead Rising" is the best bad game I've ever played. I commented to Andy that I can only imagine the brainstorming sessions that produced a game like this. The idea is that you're stuck in a mall for 72 hours, and zombies are swarming everywhere. Pretty much everything in the game can be used as a weapon, and because it's set in a mall, there are a lot of things to choose from. As an example, the weapons I used included shopping carts, benches, baseball bats, potted plants, mannequins, hedge clippers, blade saws, soccer balls, and parasols.

The game has very little going for it beyond all of the innovative ways to defend yourself against zombies, however.

I give "Dead Rising" 3 stars out of 5. The game is incredibly fun to play, and the fact that your character can put on any clothes he finds lends itself to very surreal situations. Nonetheless, the game seems endlessly repetitive, and the fact that there's no co-op mode is disappointing. Andy and I would have been a formidable team.
