The Northwestern graduation trip

Posted 17 July 2006 in adventure, commencement, graduation, northwestern-university, story, and trip

Generic breakdown

Monday: Arrived
Tuesday: All day with Allan
Wednesday: All day with Justin
Thursday: All day with Amanda
Friday: Running around campus
Saturday: Departed

Tuesday was rock solid: I met with Dean Holtgrieve, discussed re-entry and enrollment, and filled out forms. I then spent the rest of the day with Allan, which of course involved lunch at Chipotle and lots of talk about technology, programming, and the design of his custom website software. I took Amanda out to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner, and then we attended the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's concert that evening. She unfortunately developed what would turn out to be a two week illness by the intermission.

Another rock solid day: I headed over to Justin's dorm room and we played new Splinter Cell 3 co-op missions for hours. Pizza from Papa Romeo's was naturally involved. That evening, Andy came over to Amanda's apartment to watch Arrested Development and talk about his future plans. He was in rare form that evening, and the conversation was informative and enjoyable.

Amanda and I spent the afternoon at the Chicago Arboretum, followed by sushi with Andy at Dozika.

I got a late start, and ended up running around campus trying to get tickets to the commencement event that evening, as well as the engineering event. At the last moment, I ran into Chris as he was moving out of Foster House. Sweet.

I immediately headed from there to the Health Service. I sneaked in and surprised Ben and Sue first (they've gone out of their way to keep in contact with me). Following that, I went around the Health Service, surprising everyone who hadn't seen me already. I was disappointed to find that the majority of the staff had left for the day due to the commencement, though.

I had the graduation adventure I already detailed, lunch at Chili's, and then I hopped on a plane and flew away.
