News of a death

Posted 18 July 2006 in coworker, death, eulogy, friend, Health-Service, memory, and northwestern-university

Today I got news that a friend of mine at the Health Service died. It seems he was overcome by the heat wave in Chicago. UPDATE - It was his heart, not the heat. When I visited in June, his was the last photo I had taken when I visited the Health Service - I had to deliberately hunt someone down to take our picture together, and it's the only photo I have of him. He always had a big smile on his face, and was immediately easy to talk to, due to his friendly nature.

Kirk Pivovar, I'll miss stealing Smarties and Wint-O-Green mints from the pharmacy candy bowl and telling you to add them to my tab. I'll miss coming in and talking with you about inane things (like movies) while working on a computer. I'll miss standing by the pharmacy and talking with you, our names getting swapped absentmindedly as Susan would walk past and greet us. Thanks for the excellent and challenging games of pool at the Health Service party.

Goodbye, Kirk.
