lessons learned in production

Hey there! This article was written in 2005.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

It takes time

I've been keeping Drivel open at all times, since it makes it extraordinarily easy to post an aside that might come to mind. The only problem is, it's making it too easy to braindump; the average aside only takes me ten seconds to write! Thus, I'm going to have to be careful not to overuse this new thing.

Meanwhile, it's interesting how the interfaces I use have influenced how I post to this blog. For instance, prior to adding asides, I never really used Drivel, since it doesn't yet have all of the features that the Wordpress admin pages offer. Now, Drivel is my main tool for blogging because it affords almost IM-like speeds for posting IM-like asides.
