lessons learned in production

Hey there! This article was written in 2005.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

On the prowl

Posted 25 April 2005 in life

The ladies working at CAPS have decided to conspire to find me a girlfriend. They are apparently pretty worried about me. Peachy and Diane in particular have been on the lookout for a while, and Diane even went so far as to inform me that if she had a daughter, I'd be "more than welcome to her".

Just the other day, Peachy was helping a client check out, and I was standing at the desk waiting to ask when several of the CAPS people would be free for me to work on some outstanding issues they were having. When the girl had finished filling out the forms, she stood there for a moment gathering her stuff while I started talking with Peachy.

Me : When will Kathy be free?
Peachy : Mmm... checks schedule she's busy all day.
Me : What about Heather? Is she in the LSC? Or Julia? Are they in the LSC today?
Girl walks away
Peachy : No, but they'll be in the LSC tomorrow. Pauses Did you see her? She was totally checking you out!
Me : Yeah, I noticed that.
Peachy : So you were checking her out too! That's good!
Me : No, I'm pretty sure she was curious who this kid was who was asking for the psychiatrists by name, desperate to see one.

I think Christine might also be looking out for prospects, but it seems like it would be some kind of breach of trust or contract to be asking clients "So...you have a boyfriend, or what?"
