lessons learned in production

Hey there! This article was written in 2005.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

Why no updates?

Since my website is hosted on my dorm room computer, the site has been down for several weeks while I've been on Christmas break (and only then because we're required to unplug everything in our dorm room or else we get in trouble). So that's why the site has been down.

However, I've not posted for several days, and don't you think I'm the kind of guy to blog about his Christmas break? Sho 'nuff! But I've had some other things going on. First and foremost, I've been constructing a picture gallery and populating it with images. It's definitely not ready for prime-time, because I've got to talk with some people about how I can fix my bad pictures (in almost all cases the picture is too dark...if you have any insights [besides "increase the brightness and contrast, aDOY!"], please leave a comment, or IM me, or email me).

I'm also going to make this blog a little bit more focused. I'm doing a program to read the Bible in a year, and I want to write the daily progress, such as the day's verses, and perhaps a summary or something. Feel free to follow along! I also want to have a section where I write my opinions of things, so I don't have to continually tell people individually what I think. Especially about Xanga. I keep hatin' on Xanga a lot. That's right, I've been sippin' on Hater-aide. Anyway, I also want to provide updates on how life has been so people can keep up.

So basically I'm going to be writing for an audience, instead of for myself. It'll take some time to restructure, though. And that's why I haven't updated at all.
