lessons learned in production

Hey there! This article was written in 2004.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

Moving this month

Posted 9 August 2004

Once again I'm going to have to pack up all of my stuff and move. Plex closes August 21st, and New Student Week doesn't start until mid-September. I'm going to put in calls to the frats that are open over the summer, and see if they'll let me move in for that short while. The sad part is that I'll be moving this month, and then moving again in September.

Tomorrow's going to be a busy day; in addition to work tomorrow I'm going to be installing Mozilla Firefox for a friend (you need this browser NOW) and reinstalling Windows XP for Sharon Lee. Her computer's operating very strangely, which is anomalous to me, since she doesn't appear to have any viruses, malware, or rootkits installed on the computer. So the solution is of course to reinstall since I've expended all of my options for fixing the computer.

Gnome 2.8 (basically my graphical user interface) is coming out September 15th, and I am very much looking forward to it. It promises all sorts of new goodies, plus the very very cool Gnome usability improvements that I expect will propel Gnome to become a product that I can recommend to my parents within the next two years. Hooray!
