lessons learned in production

Hey there! This article was written in 2004.

It might not have aged well for any number of reasons, so keep that in mind when reading (or clicking outgoing links!).

Sheila Driscoll is awesome

Posted 19 June 2004

Sheila Driscoll, the Vice President of Student Affairs, has been going ABCD (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty) to help me out. First she extended my stay in Elder by a week. Then she got me housing in Plex for the majority of the summer at half the going rate. Then she gave me a free meal plan. And then today, so that I wouldn't have a 20-hour homeless stage between when Elder closes and Plex opens, she arranged for me to move into Plex a day before I'm supposed to be allowed to! But sh that needs to stay on the low low. All I can say is, thank you Sheila.

My youngest brother, Stephan, is having to rebuild his computer from the ground up, and he's interested in trying out Linux. sw33t. I'm really glad he's going to try it out. I think he's going to run with Gentoo. And I think he'll get a kick out the truly amazing GNOME desktop environment.

PS - This site will be inaccessible for hopefully only one week, but probably two at most, due to my moving to a different dorm and needing to re-register the site name with Northwestern.
